we have gatherings about once every 5-6 weeks. Not too much, not too little. We had our third gathering http://balmorg.wordpress.com/2007/05/01/works-in-progress-gathering/ last Saturday. Our post with images and text about it will be up soon. It has been great getting together with other artists to discuss work. We have had artists say it is exactly what they are needing as most are not involved in classes, or are seeing other artists on a regular basis. We would love some outside suggestions even if you can’t make it to a gathering. At some point we are going to have an art slam. This will be specific to visual arts of some sort and be a weekend gathering where we do a combination of producing art, critiquing, hanging out, eating, and some type of event like camping or something else. I looked at your main website and realized my wife and I are the same age you are, as we were born in 73 as well. I looked at the SVA for grad school, but started a contract commercial enterior company instead called http://www.displaydirect.com . We are working on sourcing artwork for different commercial companies. Merci, Darin (& Shannon)
thanks amy, we will keep you posted! I am not sure why in the world you want to come to kansas. did you see the latest national geographic with the flint hills images? you would be amazed by the open space. you can see for miles and miles, and all you see is miles and miles…of nothing. i do mean nothing. maybe a few hundred cows, and maybe way off in the distance a old farm house and a lone rode leading as if from nowhere to it. but that is the flint hills. we live on the border of kansas and missouri near kansas city. lawrence is a town of around 100,000 including around 26,000 students. We believe it or not live in a somewhat hilly area which is more like missouri rather than most of kansas that is flatter than a pancake. we have lots of trees. we try to not let anyone know about how beautiful it is here. 🙂
I'm an artist who shows her work with BravinLee programs in NYC. In the past, I've exhibited my work at Bellwether, PS1, The Drawing Center, and a bunch of other places. I teach at the School of Visual Arts in NYC.
