5/13/10: Lincoln Park, a hot dog, and a mysterious woodland creature
Taking a break from shilling totes. Here are some pics from my walk with Oscar this morning.
Anyone know what the last critter is?

Mystery creature? I seriously don't know what this is.
Confused possum?
Inbred raccoon?
Oversized hedgehog?
Tiny bear?
Seriously, I’m a city girl. I have no idea what this guy is.

Its a groundhog! There’s a whole flickr group for groundhogs in trees, I have one in there (http://www.flickr.com/photos/nvergalla/3649341144/in/photostream/). I was so surprised the first time I saw one- thought for sure it was an over sized squirrel… but groundhogs are rodents, and according to wikipedia: “Despite their heavy-bodied appearance, groundhogs are accomplished swimmers and excellent tree climbers when escaping predators or when they want to survey their surroundings.”

Awe! My standard answer to questions like this is vole. But probably a groundhog based on the above link.
